Stranded Knitting
Posted on | December 15, 2007 |
I’ve seen a lot of stranded mittens in blogland lately and just had to try my hand at it too. Over at Zeneedle Margene has been knitting a pair that I just loved. The pattern is Bird in Hand Mittens by Kate Gilbert. Aren’t they adorable? And look at the little surprise on the thumb!
I’ve started and so far so good. It’s a bit challenging getting the tension right and I absolutely CANNOT knit with my left hand. So I have this finger thing I bought from Knitpicks a long time ago and it’s actually working pretty well.
So, without further ado, here is the start of my first stranded knitting project. These mittens will be a gift for my friend if they come out OK. I had her try them on last night, and they are fitting!! Yippee!! I had a really hard time getting gauge figured out. I’m using US # 2 dpn’s.

Your mittens are looking lovely! I know I have a couple of those handy finger thingys somewhere but for the lift of me, can’t find them!
