Selbuvotter

I’ve been working on some more mittens from the Selbuvotter book. This time I’m trying Knitpicks Telemark yarn. But, alas, still having gauge problems. The pattern calls for 8 sts / inch and I’m getting 7 with US #3 needles. Next pair I’ll try US #2.5 and see what happens. This pair is coming out to a women’s large size. It fits my big hand just right. I’ll be sending it to Mittens for Akkol so hopefully there will be a teen girl who can wear these. They are still quite a bit of fun to knit!

Here’s a sweater I finished for CIC. It’s the Vestee pattern from Knitty. It was a fun knit and easy to do. Although I did have issues getting the collar sewed on. It doesn’t look like the pattern picture, but I think it’s still OK. CIC is having a sweater challenge this month so I thought I try to get one done. I did use heavier weight yarn on this one to make it a bit larger. It came out to 24″ chest measurement which is what I was aiming for.

This is some fiber I have for a spinning commission. I met a lovely lady on Ravelry and she’s commissioned me to spin some fiber she had in her stash. The plan is to spin each color separately and then do a three ply yarn. The final yarn is to be fingering weight as she wants to use it to knit socks. Wish me luck!

  1. Congrats on your commission.

Those mittens are lovely. I’m glad to know that the KnitPicks yarns work well. I have mittens down as some of my “next things” to try.

  2. Spinnig on commission! Wow! That’s pretty cool. Can’t wait to see the finished yarn!

    Beatiful mittens too, btw.
