HHHHH Questionnaire

1. How long have you been spinning? What skill level do you consider yourself?
I’ve been spinning for 1 1/2 years. I would say I’m at an intermediate level.

2. What kinds of yarn do you create (singles/2-ply/3-ply/art yarn)?
all of the above

3. What do you spin with (spindle/wheel/both)?
I use my wheel the most, but I also enjoy drop spindling on occasion.

4. What are your favorite fibers to spin with? Anything you don’t like?
Love Merino, BFL, alpaca, llama, mohair, angora bunny, cashmere. Blends with Bamboo and Tencel are luscious! Any of the wools which are soft, I’m not too hot on the scratchy fibers.

5. Who are your favorite crack dealers fiber sources (etsy or otherwise)?
Spunky Eclectic, Loop, CopperPot Woolies, Funky Carolina, CJ Copek Creations, Freckle Faced Fibers, Hello Yarn. Is that enough? I can go on and on!

6. What kind of fiber do you want to try?
Silk hankies!

7. Is there any techniques you would like to learn?
I’d like to be better at the long draw and I’d like to learn some of the new artsy fartsy techinques - think Lexi Boeger.

8. Do you dye fiber? If not, would you like to learn?
Yep! Just took a dyeing class by Judith McKenzie McCuin. I love dyeing, just hard to find the time for it. FYI - I have plenty of fiber in the stash for dyeing.

9. Do you have fiber prep tools (and like to use them) or would you prefer ready to spin fiber?
I have a drum carder and I do enjoy using it. I have a home made hackle I use sometimes. I am not interested in washing raw fleece right now because I work full time and it’s just too time consuming.

10. What do you do with your handspun? What projects have you completed?
I sell some of it and knit with the rest. I’ve done scarves, shawls, mittens, hats, socks and one cardigan.

11. Are you in need of any spinning gadgets (WPI Gauge, threading hook, etc)?
Not that I can think of right now.

12. What colors “fall into your shopping basket”? Any colors you just can’t stand?
I like just about any colors! Not too crazy about hot pink/green/orange. Love blues, greens, purples.

13. What is on your wheel/spindle right now?
On the wheel is 1 pound of a dark, dark, dark brown corriedale roving. On the spindle is alpaca in a lovely gray.

14. What other crafts/hobbies do you have?
I love to listen to books on tape while I knit (I’m a member of audible.com). I also weave on a rigid heddle loom and do tablet weaving too. I do a bit of scrapbooking for my grandson.

15. Other than crafts, what are you passionate about?
My family, especially those precious grandchildren.

16. Do you have an online wishlist?
No

17. Is there anything that you collect?
FIBER! LOL

18. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What magazine subscriptions do you have?
The only magazine subscription I have is to Spin-Off. I would be interested in subscriptions to Interweave Knits and Knitter’s magazines.

August

20. What book or movie character do you most resemble in personality?
Meg in Little Women

21. What is the climate like where you live around this time (need to know for careful shipments of anything meltable)?
