Fiddleheads!
Posted on | February 1, 2009 |
I have been wanting to knit a pair of Fiddlehead Mittens (Ravelry Link) for a long time. I watched and stalked the Hello Yarn site forever, but there were never any of the kits available. I mentioned this problem over in one of the Ravelry groups and Amy of Spunky Eclectic said she could do a custom dye job for me with the same merino/mohair fiber for the outer mittens and alpaca for the lining. I am totally inept at choosing colors and Amy is fantastic so I asked her to come up with a color scheme for me. And here is the photoshoot for the Fiddlehead Mittens:
Now if the weather would just turn cold again!

I love these mitten so much! I love that they started as fiber dyed by a friend, turned into lovely handspun yarn, and ended up knitted into things of beauty. Bonus - they’ll keep your hands warm on those inevitable cold days (it’s February - they’re coming back!)

Those are beautiful! If the Monday night group ever meets again, I need help with my first stranded knitting mittens. You clearly are an expert!

Yay Fiddleheads!! Be sure to let us know if you happen to get lucky with a cold snap — or even just a cold afternoon.

These are gorgeous! You must feel like a queen when you wear them. Custom fiber, hand-knit, what could be better?? I have been lusting after this pattern ever since I first saw it. This is all the more inspiration to make these!
