We Didn’t Start the Fire

Acutally the name of this fiber was New Day, but Amy from Spunky Eclectic said her inspiration was the Billy Joel song, We Didn’t Start the Fire. The song went ’round and ’round in my head the whole time I was spinning it.

This is lovely Corriedale wool which spun up like a dream. 190 yards, 2 ply, 12 WPI. I just love the orange and gold colors! It’s for sale in my ETSY SHOP.

Here’s a simple cowl I knit recently. No pattern - just cast on 120 sts. Knit in the round - 4 rounds garter stitch. Pattern is 10 rounds stockinette stitch, 1 round purl. Repeat to desired length and then end with 4 rounds garter stitch again. Easy peasy. I used some funky singles I had spun. I got a bit over aggressive with the setting of the singles. They looked kinda funky and I was afraid I had ruined this wonderful Organic Merino. But once they dried and were knitted everything was just wonderful. The cowl is so soft and lovely. Whew!

And just some pretty shots of some spindle spinning in progress. The spindle is a Kundart Cedar, 1 oz. The lovely batts were gifted to me by Enting in a Spunky Batt Swap. They are delish!
