The Sock Mojo Returns
Posted on | May 5, 2009 |
I have not been interested in knitting socks for a while now. I have done the occasional pair for my MIL and that’s about it. The Spunky Group over on Ravelry decided to have a SAL and KAL with April’s club fiber. Well, I’m nothing if not a follower so I decided to join in. And despite myself I had a great time! Now I’m ready to spin more sock yarn and knit lots more socks!!
Started with the April 2009 Spunky Fiber club fiber - Soul Windows was the name. 4 oz of SW Corriedale w/10% Nylon. The final yarn was 340 yds, 2 ply, 18 WPI. I went with the 2 ply because I was pretty sure I couldn’t get enough yardage out of 4 oz to do 3 ply.
After many false starts trying to find a toe-up heel to fit, I finally admitted defeat and knit from the cuff down. I did short cuffs because I was afraid of running out of yarn. I have quite a lot left over and could have made much longer cuffs. Oh well, I like shortie socks so it’s all good. No pattern, just knitted on 2 circs and tried on as I went, making notes so the 2nd sock would come out the same.
You know, I think I may have some odd sock yarn skeins around here somewhere! Off to dig through the stash!

Those are really pretty! I was looking at my socks, and they are getting really worn. I’m still knitting a blanket for a grandson’s birthday, but I’m almost done, so I guess then it’s socks for me!
