Stuff

Wow, it’s been quite a while since I updated the blog. I’ve been busy spinning, weaving, knitting and crocheting. I’ve even gotten a few new things too.

My father is 87 years old and in pretty poor health. He has asked me to make an afghan for him that will “cover me up completely.” LOL He’s 6′4″ tall, so a long afghan is in order. He also wanted ‘manly’ colors. Of course if Daddy asks for something I am more than happy to make it for him. Mother requested that it be able to be thrown into the washer and dryer. I’m crocheting the afghan so it will go faster (my crocheting is MUCH faster than my knitting). Here’s a little progress picture:

I recently purchased a used warping mill from a Ravelry member. This is the Ashford vertical warping mill. I’m winding my first warp on it and I really do like it. Much easier than using the warping board. I love weaving!

I warped my rigid heddle loom last weekend with some KnitPicks Palette yarn and wove this plain weave scarf using handspun as the weft yarn. Fast and easy. I used my new fringe twister and did a twisted fringe on the ends. Plain weave - 8 EPI - 64 ends. My handspun was pretty thin so I doubled it for weaving.

I have a few more things to share but I’ll save them for the next post. :)

Great projects!!! Love the rigid heddle scarf!

A crocheted afghan to completely cover a person who’s 6′4″. I might have to hire a crocheter with my track record of projects taking forever!! But you’re going full steam ahead. Awesome!

Isn’t it amazing that when you weave you keep finding more equipment to buy?? I do keep buying needles for knitting….so maybe it’s a little bit similar…but so much less expensive!

    Have fun!

Cool warping mill-yes, I do love gadgets, too.

The afghan will be a beauty, my guys are tall and like a full-cover blanket, too.

    Great scarf!
